Munster Intermediate Club C'ship Semi Final

Cahir travelled to Brian Dillons ground in Cork today to plat the Munster Intermediate Camogie Semi Final. .Cahir started strong and within 30seconds Roisin Howard had the sliotar in the Brian Dillons net followed by an Aisling Moloney point in the 3rd minute and Howard with another brace in the 6th & 8th minute.

The tone of the game was set and Caoimhe Condon finished to the net in the 12 min to assure the crowd that Cahir meant business. From the restart Aisling Moloney pointed and Carol Casey who had picked up an early yellow card and seemed to spur her on to score the point of the match from 80 yards in the 14 min. The Cahir girls were now leading 2-06 to 0-00 after a quarter played. There was to be 3 further points from Howard (2) and Moloney (1) before the interval to finish the half 2-09 to 0-00.

Cahir had played with a good breeze in the first half but seemed to be on top in all areas of play and were not going to fear a Brian Dillon comeback especially as 2 passages of play between moloney working the ball to Howard within 3 minutes to add an extra 1-1.

The opposition did comeback with a fortuitous goal when a ball seemed to be going wide was deflected of Orla McEniry in the Cahir goal to set up the opposition with their first score of the game by means of a goal from center back Emma Sharp. This was followed by a point from Brian Dillons,Sinead Millsin the 36th and Caoimhe Rodgers 41st minute. The comeback was short lived when Aisling Moloney put over 2 points to cancel the oppositions good work. The best passage of play in the game was when Lorna McEniry won a ball at corner back and laid it off to Caoimhe Condon Who played a one/two with Sinead Kennedy and back to Aisling McCarthy to be fouled and awarded a free. An inspirational point from sub Lauren Fitzpatrick did herself no harm in claiming a starting place in the final. There was a little controversy in the latter stages when Caoimhe Rodgers received a straight red for an off the ball incident which was an isolated case in the game. Cahir now look forward to a final against Lismore on 14th but will need to brush up of overplaying in certain areas when scoring chances were for the taking. It is fair to say that the girls were on top in all areas of the field but the football mentors will be glad to see their players come away injury free in what was another enjoyable day for the club.
