14 man Cahir come through Aherlow challenge

The first round of the senior football championship was played last Sunday in Bansha where we played Aherlow Gaels, we were barely in our seats when the green flag was raised for Cahir when Niall McKenna fired home with forty five seconds gone on the clock, with wet and at times a strong breeze blowing across the pitch conditions were always going to be difficult for both teams, five minutes in the Gael's pointed from a free and a minute later Liam Casey pointed for Cahir, the next few minutes saw both teams playing a hand pass game but breaking down on both sides, on twelve gone a penalty for Aherlow was converted despite Aaron Wall getting a hand to it, there was enough power to see the ball hit the back of the net, a couple of more points for Aherlow would see them in front at the half time whistle 1-01 to 1-03, the second thirty started with first blood going to Cahir with a point from Conor O'Brien, eight minutes into the second half our men were down to fourteen men as Liam Casey was sent off on a straight red card which most of us missed, then with twelve minutes gone from a throw ball McKenna gave a lovely pass to Sean Murphy and he said thanks by scoring Cahir's second goal to go one up, with time almost up Aherlow drew level to leave the last couple of minutes in the melting pot, in stoppage time Dean Lonergan scored a beautiful point to go one up again, the Gaels would have one more chance with a free from outside the 45 meter line but could not take advantage of it , final score Cahir 2-04 Aherlow Gaels 1-06,well done to all our panel of players today they worked well and dug in when needed, also we say well done to the management team who put in a great effort, full team and scorers: Aaron Wall, Keelan Looby, Ger Hally, Oisin Moloney, Ian Flannery, Kieran O'Dwyer, Ger Quinn, Liam Casey (0-1), Eddie Kendrick (0-1), Mikey O'Connor, Niall McKenna (1-0), Kevin Grogan, Conor O'Brien (0-1), Dean Lonergan (0-1), Sean Murphy (1-0). Junior A football championship

Again last Sunday we were in Drombane to play Shannon Rovers in the first round of this competition, with an evening throw in, 6pm to be exact, Cahir started well in this game and had a good first half with goals from Sean O'Connor and James McGrath and would also add five points to their tally for the first thirty, the second half was much tighter and Shannon were not going away easily, Cahir would score four points but the Rovers had other ideas, a goal and three points put them back in it and the last few minutes saw them score two goals in as many minutes to salvage a draw, final score Cahir 2-09 Shannon Rovers 3-06, well done to all our panel and management team, full team and scorers: Keelan Hickey, Colin McEniry, Eoin Donaghy, James Walsh, Liam Howard, Sean O'Connor (1-0), Brendan Donaghy, Daniel Moloney (0-1), Conor Casey, Eanna Heffernan, Dylan Fitzgerald (0-3), James McGrath (1-0), Jake Kiely (0-2), Alan O'Connor (0-2), Darragh Howard.
